Olivier Tuinier (1982) is an Amsterdam-based photographer focused on analog documentary and street photography, with a soft spot for faded glory. In addition to his photography practice, Olivier is a director and entrepreneur active in the cultural and social sector.
‘As a student in the early 2000s, I always carried a camera with me. It trained me to notice moments of quiet beauty in my surroundings. When I dropped out of art school after a year, the camera gradually disappeared into a drawer and that awareness diminished. A few years ago I made conscious decision to open the drawer and dust of the camera.
This simple change made me more conscious of the world around me. Since then, I've made it a habit to take a camera wherever I go. As I walk through the streets, there are always things that catch my eye. Things that clash quietly with their surroundings. I'm drawn to the unspectacular and the unfiltered.’
